I only went to the gym today because it would force me to shower.
We’ve been under snow lock down since last Saturday, and while I have been mostly enjoying this — I mean, let’s be real: I can do a lot of my job from home, so it’s not like getting behind on client work, the dog is LOVING the snow so I’ve been getting a fair amount of outside time, and I can walk to almost everything I need and everyone I want to see — but there really has been NO need to shower. And frankly, I don’t think that is a habit we need let go for too long, right?
Anyway, thank God the gym has remained open throughout the entire snowpocolypse. I’m quite impressed with them, really: they’re the first to have their sidewalks shoveled, they’re open their regular hours, and it’s not like they needed to be — they’re not losing money by closing, right? Anyway, having a first class gym a 2 minute walk away is nice under any circumstances, but particularly this week.

I’m so jealous your gym has been open! I don’t know if you’ve seen my ramblings on twitter but I got a free week pass at my friend’s gym last Thursday, but since then they’ve only been open TWO days, closed Sat-Mon and Wed/Thurs because of the damn snow. When they open tomorrow (and oh my god they better open tomorrow) I’m going to have to plead to extend my pass. I’m starting to go crazy from the lack of running and I’m not hardcore enough to run in this mess. Did you end up doing that afternoon run the other day?
Ugh, I totally didn’t. I instead opted to take the dog on a long walk – met my friends up at the Capitol as they started their run and then walked the dog until he dropped. Exercise AND warm comfy snow boots! Win!
(Of course, now seeing their pictures from the run I’m sad I didn’t go with them. Which I knew I would be. But what was I suppose to do, let me dog suffer inside? IT WAS FOR THE CHILDREN!)
Yeah but you still got out of the house and had a nice walk. Better than nothing and sounds like it was a good time anyway!
Ah, yes, the joys of dog ownership (and no backyard-having): ensuring you will get out of the house whether you like it or not 🙂
Hope your gym pass gets extended!!
The only reason I went to happy hour on Tues night was so I had an excuse to shower. I mean…it had been since Friday AM when I worked out hard enough I had to shower.
Whatever… never going to see those people again anyway!
Made me miss my yoga pants right away, too, as I got dressed to go out. Also made me realize that maybe it wasn’t the guy behind me at the store who was a tad stinky.
